Patrick...thanks for writing this post. I've been resisting getting a smart phone--I feel VERY connected and am not sure I want a smart phone pinging me all the time. I see Verizon has an HP netbook for about $200. It made me think that an ultra-portable netbook and my Verizon broadband card might be a better choice than a smartphone for checking my email via web and responding as well as surfing. It would save an additional $40 a month and provide a better user and ergonomic interface than a smart phone. I guess international travel might be a downside of this approach. What are your thoughts? Dave Gardner
